Moving to another country can reshape even a career built over decades. New rules, a different market, and an unfamiliar professional environment can make an experienced professional feel as though everything must be built again. But Oksana Karvehina’s story shows that starting over does not necessarily mean starting from zero.

When Oksana moved to the United States in 2023, she brought with her more than 24 years of experience in the beauty industry. She had already owned a salon, taught beauty professionals, developed educational projects, and created UkrSalon, a professional beauty publication and online platform. In America, however, she faced a new challenge: obtaining a U.S. professional license, understanding a new market, building a new clientele, and establishing her name in a new professional community.

Oksana began by working as a stylist in an American salon. A few months later, she moved into her own private studio. About a year and a half after relocating, she was already leasing a salon and building her own business. Her next step was even bigger: she acquired a different salon and became its owner.

Today, Oksana owns OxyOxy Beauty Hair Salon & Beauty Studio in Orlando, Florida.

In just two and a half years, she went from working in someone else’s salon to owning a beauty business of her own. At the same time, another side of her career was developing just as rapidly.

From Hair Extension Specialist to International Recognition

Hair extensions remain the primary focus of Oksana’s professional work, with a particular focus on extensions for fine hair. Years of experience in this area led to the development of her own Invisible Hair Extension System™ and to professional education programs for other beauty specialists.

Her work has also received recognition within the professional beauty community. Oksana received the Client’s Choice Hair Extension Master and Best Natural Look Hair Extension awards. In 2026, she became a finalist for a professional award in the United Kingdom in the Hair Extension Master of the Year category.

One of the highlights of her career in the United States came at the United Beauty Awards USA in Miami. This time, Oksana stepped onto the competition floor herself and earned two placements: second place in Keratin Hair Straightening and third place in Hair Extensions.

For someone who had begun rebuilding her professional career in the United States only a few years earlier, these achievements marked another important step in a remarkably fast period of growth.

Six Championships in Six Months

Then came another turn in her career: Oksana was no longer only entering professional competitions — she was being invited to judge the work of others.

Between June and November 2026, Oksana received invitations to serve on the judging panels of six professional championships across the United States, Europe, and Ukraine, she was invited to serve on the judging panels of six professional championships across the United States, Europe, and Ukraine.

Her judging responsibilities extend well beyond her primary specialty. In addition to multiple Hair categories, she has evaluated work in Professional Beauty Training, Beauty Business Development, Beauty Salon Innovation, Best Beauty Book, and other professional categories.

The range reflects the breadth of her own career. Oksana opened her first salon in 2005, has spent years educating beauty professionals, has experience developing a professional industry publication, and has now built a beauty business in the United States as well.

Another step came through membership in a professional association, where she participates in the evaluation and accreditation of beauty industry professionals. In 2026, she also spoke at Premiere Orlando, continuing the educational work she began years earlier, now with an American professional audience.

There is a striking contrast in that journey: only a few years ago, Oksana was working to obtain her own U.S. professional license and establish herself in a new country. Today, she is trusted to evaluate the professional work and qualifications of others.

The Next Step: Helping Others Move Forward

Today, another chapter is beginning. Oksana has taken on the role of team leader, bringing together beauty professionals from different specialties to participate in an international championship.

Not long ago, she was the one finding her place in an unfamiliar professional environment. Now, her experience allows her to help other professionals step onto competition platforms, develop strong work, gain professional visibility, and pursue achievements of their own.

And perhaps this is where her story becomes relevant far beyond the beauty industry.

You cannot build 24 years of professional experience in two and a half years. But you can decide what to do with those 24 years next.

You can wait for the right opportunity — or you can earn a new license, take the first job, open a private studio, build a business, enter competitions, accept new professional roles, and continue learning.

Today, Oksana Karvehina owns a salon in the United States, has received professional awards, is a finalist for a British industry award, continues her work as an educator, has been invited to judge six championships within six months, and is now leading a team of professionals toward their own competition experience.

Her story is not about success happening overnight. It is about how quickly new opportunities can emerge when experience is matched by the determination to keep moving forward.
